  • Spare tire hole

I was thinking about working on the car and found this spare tire hole. I dont know if it's supposed to be there. Has anyone found out the purpose of it? I want to cover it up. Here's a pic with my hand shadow over it to show you the hole in the spare tire well.

i gots one too. I remember a discussion about it a while back and someone kept ice in there or something while at the track and it turned in to a huge argument about it draining and being unsafe. I think it was mustangeater but dont quote me. Anyway yeah they said it was for some kind of draining of moisture.

Anyone ever think its for venting, like when someone closes the hatch when you are sitting in the front seat with the doors closed, there's some kind of pressure in the car.

No. A car is not airtight enough to hold significant amounts of pressure... any excess would escape through the door/window seal if not other places.

It is a drain hole for cars with power antennas. Apparently water leaks through. The power antennas even come with a drainage tube.

Cool, I covered it up anyway because I don't have a power antenna. I think it'd be better and less noise.
