changing the drive belt on these cars are really easy. the hardest part is finding the socket size to use for the tension pulley.
first of all, the tension pulley, if you dont know what one it is, it is the pulley that has two 1/2 dollar size hoses going into it just below the actual pulley. and should be just below the alternator.
all that you have to do is wrap the belt through the pulleys and leave the one of the smaller pulley's out of the loop for the moment-i found it easier to put the belt on the tensioner last alot easier than any of the others. find out what size the bolt head is on the tension pulley and use a ratchet as if you were trying to loosen that bolt. youll notice that the pulley will push down when doing this when using a wratchet wrench. once you have that pushed down, it should give you enough slack to put the belt on the last pulley.

didnt see the second half of the question.....to remove, but downforce on the tension pulley by using a wrench to give slack on the belt which will allow you to slide it off of the tension pulley.

first take of the air intake, it makes it alot easier.

yep thats the tensionor, 15mm, or 1/2 in. socket works, push down with all your weight... pull it off at the alternator pullye.

to put on, I start by the crank and power steering pulley, wrap it around all the pulleys except the alternator. Make sure its line up and exact on all the pulley then push down on the tensionor, and pull it over the alternator.

double check its perfect on all the pulleys(even though with my expereince on the 3.8, is you won't be able to pull it over the alternator pulley unless, its exactly on all the pulleys) Before you run the car...

          And your don...
