Even though I start the fans right away the car still warms up a little past 210* Is this normal, no matter what I do is the car going to warm up that high? I really wanted it to run cooler because it looses alot of power when it reaches the 210 mark.

yea get a different thermo, that will lower it with the fans. Also how many miles? could use a coolant flush like 94firebirdv6 said

I already installed a 180* thermo and my coolant is 3.5 years old so I should probably change it anyways since it has about 69,000 miles on the original coolant. With new coolant will the engine run at 180* or will it still run warmer than that? Also, During my search I read that during highway driving the car should run cooler, well mine heats up to the same temp now matter what driving conditions.

Accurate or not mine won't even touch 200 when the car is moving or when it is sitting with the fan switch to high. I would think you are having coolant problems. The car shouldn't get that hot when you are driving it even with the stock thermo and no fan switch.

I have the same issue of my temp. I just bought the car like a month ago. It looks like the person that owned the car took care of it, has service records, for oil and trans fluid changes. But nothing on Coolant changes. Mine runs at the "Factory gauges" 210 mark, half way. Doesn't go up or down. I never hear the fan kick on either. I don't take notice to the temp falling while driving on the highway at 80 If I get the Hypertech 180 Thermo I guess this would help out. how much is the average for a collant flush at a garage. I guess a termostat change wouldn't be more then an hours work for them. Would a new thermo cause any problems as far as warning lights in the car? a new thermo is a 10 minute job just so you know and you can easily do it yourself.

Thanks I am probably going to flush and fill the system this weekend and see if that takes care of it. Also, I installed a 185* manual fan relay and the fans come on alot earlier but they don't cool the engine down even during highway driving. They just continuously run. I had to hook the swicth directly to the power wires and not the high and low speed wires. I think the fans are only coming on at low speed. Can I correct this by splicing the high speed relay wire into the main power wire and if so is the high speed wire the blue one or the green one?Modifications:<br />headers, throtle bod spacer, flowmaster, high flow magnaflow carsound cat, powerdyne sc with 2.9\" pulley and by-pass valve, walboro 255 fuel pump, spec stage 2 clutch, and HP Tuners

ALL 99+ F-bodies got an "idiot light" for a temperature gauge that goes to, and stays at 210*. Back when I had autotap I confirmed this.
The change was made when it we believed that an accurate temperature gauge going from 160* to 210* over 2 ticks would cause a lot of needle fluctuation - and a lot of worried drivers.
It's a dummy gauge now.2011 Camaro LS 6M, in black.
