  • Chirpin noise on belt

Hey, I changed my serpentine belt a couple of weeks ago but now my car just started making this chirping noise that just drives me nuts. I really havent had time to go under the hood and see what it was but maybe one of you guys had that problems before, it started to make the noise for a bit but now its constant, everytime i press on the gas. anybody knows what it is? i'd appreciate it

Replacing either of those items (alternator or tensioner) is no big deal. The alternator shouldn't cost much more than $100, and it's 2 bolts and a few wires....shouldn't take more than 20 mins from popping the hood to puttin' it back down.

Hey, I had the same problem. I changed the tensioner pulley, the alternator, even the oil pump... DIDN'T HELP A BIT... so I got pissed off, took off the belt, went to the store, and told them to get me a slightly shorter belt. Put that on, and no problems since!
