  • Overhaul the motor?

I could not decide which forum this belongs in, so feel free to move it.

Before bying headers and a supercharger, I was going to pull the engine out and send it to a speed shop for some mods (boring out, cams, etc.). Will this be worth the money, or is is too hard to sqeeze more juice from the motor? What kind of HP from those mods is expected? Does anyone have any recommendations for a v6 specialist (I live in NY, but if it is worth the money, I can ship.) At this time, doing the motor myself is beyond my skills.

    Thanks.

    Jason.

Personally, I wouldn't spend the money on having a speed shop mod my V6. For about the same amount of money (while the engine is out anyways) you could have a V8 mod'd and install it with alot more potential. Your money though...

If you're spending the money to bolt on a supercharger, it makes sense to me to go ahead and rebuild and put stronger internals in it, and go ahead and put ported and polished heads on there. You'd definately see better results than just bolting on your supercharger. and you'll have piece of mind.

definitely get the internals stronger, port and polish intakes and heads, and put a nice cam that will work with your sc application. You will gain a lot more from the supercharger then

I was wondering if the guts would hold up to the SC power. It would be nice to know it can after spending the money. Any good places to go?

hockeyman, I have debated this for a while. Trick the 6 or drop in an 8. Doing out the math, it really seemed to be about the same about of money, although the 8 would give some extra ponies. In a few years, we'll find out if I made the right choice.

          Thanks for the responses.

hey, you have a 3.4 it would be waaaaaay more worth your while to get a 3.8, not just any 3.8 but instead of an l36 get an l67... Its got forged internals, all you would need is l36 heads and intake manifolds.. i'd do that

              teal,
Just curious what a 3.8 would cost? If I drop a lot of $, then why not spring for the 305? What is an l67 anyway?

An L67 is basically just a turbo'd 3.8 It's got all the internals that are ready to be turbo'd...
