high headlight beam and fog lights on @ the same time question

i recently came across a post here with this article in it.

http://www3.sympatico.ca/2002camaro/docs/headlights.doc

however i have a 2000 firebird, and when i look at the wires coming out of the fog light switch there's no green.
instead there's 5 wires:
brown
purple
yellow
gray
& black

out of the bottom of the fog light relay under the hood, there's 4 wires:
the same
brown
purple
& yellow,
but a different light green wire.
it's the second of the 2 green wires in the under side of the relay box, (the other being way darker)

i've posted a pic of both @ http://www.mustangmods.com/data/2295/fog_lights_004.jpg to clarify what i just wrote.

i'd really like to be able to have my fog lights on at the same time as my high beams, because i do alot of higway driving at night thru back contry roads, being i live in a really rural area.

any help would be appreciated
thanks.

Don't do this. I have the instructions around here somewhere and I don't remember a jumper bit....

Give me a day and I'll find em for you.

It has nothing to do with the fog light switch.....just ground the light green wire coming out of the relay.

really?

good because that would be really easy.
the wiring harness in the dash that goes to the switch is really hard to get to.
i'm just really leary about electrical mods.
i don't have time today to mess with it, but i'll probally work on it either tonight or tomorrow night if you guys are positive.

so i just ground the relay side of the light green wire under the hood, and insulate the car/wireharness side??

Doing the wire for the fog light switch just makes it so you can turn the fog lights off when you have it on high beam...if you just do the relay the fog lights will come one when the high beams are on no matter the position of the switch.

Here is another article that should help you decide the wire colors:
http://www.xious.com/camaro/install-foglamps98+.html

well, that's close.
the part in the article:
http://www.xious.com/camaro/install-foglamps98+.html
about under the hood with the wire harness is right on about the colors of the wires.
but if you notice in my picture:
http://www.mustangmods.com/data/2295/fog_lights_004.jpg there's no light green wire coming out of the back of the fog light switch under the dashboard.
the colors are:
brown
purple
yellow
gray
& black

i can do the part under the hood, but i'd really like to keep the fog light switch on the dash functional.
let me know what you guys think.
thanks

I would assume that since the colors are off for the back of the switch you can just try the purple one to ground. The worst it will do is not work or blow a fuse...Since those are the only two colors that are different than the rest of the wires I would assume they are the same wire.

so green wire under the hood, and purple wire at the switch....or purple at both?

Purple at switch I would think....but light green at relay. Do the relay first to make sure that works....then do the switch.

Hold up.

Don't do anything at the switch under the dash. By grounding the one under the hood, you stil control the on/off of the foglamps. The grounding just stops them from going off when the highs come on.

I did this, and just taped up the ends. Been about 2 years and no problems.

awesome.

so all i need to do is the green wire under the hood.
i'll do it tomorrow night.
thanks

But the fogs are in all the time if the highs are on.
