• Easy to replace headlight bulbs?

Well, my drivers side headlight bulb is definitely out. But here's the weird thing...high beams still work? How is that possible if the sealed beams have only one bulb? My real question here is, how hard is it to replace the bulb? Do I need a new housing altogether, or can I just pop this one out, take out the bad bulb and put in a new one? I want to buy a pair of these, I've seen them before...look awesome:

But I'm not sure if I can just replace the bulbs...any help would really be appreciated.

Its sooooooooooo simple. Ill break it downeven simple-er for you.
1.Pop the hood.
2.Look at the headlamp, there are bulbs in them, one low beam, and one high beam.
3.Determine which bulb needs to be replaced.
4.Unscrew the socket, I belive its only like 1/2 turn.
5.Pop it out, remove bulb, replace, pop back in.

Its really easy just take a look at it i bet you can do it!

Unless you changed the factory head light system then you need sealed beam number H4666. This sealed beam has both the high and low beam filament inside. The low beam filament can burn out and yet the high beam work because it is a different filament.

Your eBay reference for bulbs will not work in a 1996 Firebird. You need the large all-in-one sealed beam. I don't know if Xenon filled sealed beams are available.

Well what are my options then? I have to buy a new all in one sealed beam unit? Is is possible to buy some sort of conversion kit so I can get the type of bulbs that I want?

YOU DONT NEED TO BUY THE WHOLE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY!

just buuy the builb that will fit a 98 and up camaro.

thats what i did in my 96 maro.

i took off the lamp, pried off the light bulb.. cleaned up all the dried up sealent there..

got some extra strength silicon sealent and glued in the new bulbs.. its been about a month.. solid rain, has not failed me yet.

i have the sylvania silverstar bulbs. they arent blue or anything.. just white. look good though

The bulbs that fit in a camaro are different than the ones for a firebird. Can anyone give me an explanation of what needs to be done for a Firebird? Is there any way I can get the bulbs I want, or do I need to get a specific housing with a specific type of bulb?

Is it possible to buy this kit, and then buy the H4 bulbs I wanted?
