• Redline Water Wetter Question

I have a 2001 3.8 Cam Convert I was wondering about the Redline Water Wetter does it really work?

It does help a little, it works significantly better than the RoyalPurple version too. If you'd like to try a bottle its harmless, but it will do you no good if you run a 50/50 mix of coolant. I recommend trying it in the summer when you run more water in the coolant system (or if you do).

I put the Redline Water Wetter in last spring, but I honestly didn't see any significant drop in temperature. Maybe it dropped the temp just a few degrees, but I couldn't tell. I had the 50/50 mixture in, so that was probably my problem.

The overall temp shouldnt drop much at all, however the hot spots in the engine will diminish.

Whether you run 50/50 or 100% water, the water wetter should primarily function the same. I am thinking the purpose of water wetter is to drop the surface tension of the coolant to help it bond to the metal. Both are polar molecules, water being more polar than glycol. So, that's why you might notice more of a different if you run straight water. Then the second question would be how accurate is the temperature probe and the gauge?

I noticed a difference, I run 25% coolant, water, and water wetter, but I also did 160* stat, made huge difference on my car, and have heard many people praise it here in Florida where it gets pretty hot in traffic.

Yes, It works. I love the stuff but only run it in summer. It gets too cold in utah to keep it. Also, get a 160 Tstat and run 70% water 30% coolant plus watter wetter and you will like it alot.

with our cars being moderated by a t-stat and electric fans we really won't see alot of difference, also below say 210 or so you won't see much of a difference either because our cooling systems are pretty adequate.. however if you are in serious heat in the summer and regularly hit 220 or so it should help some..
