Okay quick question, my wife's 97 needs a new engine and I have a line a on good 99 what are the differences between them and what would I need to swap off of her engine? I just mainly need the block and heads. The 99 I am looking at looks exactly like her 97 engine? I think it might be a 98 since it still has the over the plugs exhaust manifolds, even though they claim it is a 99?

You will need the upper intake and throttle body off of hers, everything else should be the same.

99+ upper intakes and throttle bodies are straight instead of angled like pre 99s and the throttle is electronic instead of cable like in 97.

If you're going to go the 2000+ engine route like I did, make sure you get the 2000+ AC lines for proper clearance around the tubular manifolds.

they also changed the fuel injectors so you will have to use the one for the 1997 and the 1997 harness
