  • daytime running lights

The new thing with my car is that it is going through bulbs like candy. I understand that with daytime running lights that bulbs go out more frequent, but its only happening on the driver front, and its happening every couple of months. while I was replacing them the other day, i noticed that the socket looked burned. don't know if something is shorted out. does this happen to anyone else?

I am having that exact same problem.

Look at the translucent yellow housing and see if there are any small cracks in it. Mine were burning out because water was getting into the bulb housing and blowing up the bulbs. The cool water hits the hot bulb and the glass instantly explodes.

Here are some quick fixes that I did:
-put some bulb grease in the bulb socket.
-drill small holes in the bottom of the turn signal housing. That will allow the moisture to drain.
-I know this sounds stupid, but make sure the bulb socket is firmly locked into the housing. WHen I was replacing them often, I would do it quickly and fail to get them locked in all the way. That would allow moisture to get in.

I'm willing to bet you are getting water in the the socket, or in the corner marker. Check the wires on the socket, make sure they are not bare.

I have never heard of these going more more often than other blubs. I have had the same set in my car for over 1.5 years/10,000 miles and none have burned out yet.

I had a problem like that. The problem was that the ground in the trunk was loose and everytime that I was hitting the brakes extra juice was getting sent to the lights and shorting them out. So everytime that I was making the turn having the turn signal on and hitting the brakes my lights were getting too much and eventually burning out. Damn dealership knew about the problem and didnt let me know of course... Bastards

My bulbs didnt shatter but my harnesses were getting cooked. Harness cost about $50 from the dealership. Damn thieves.

Pull the rug back right where your trunk lock is. You should see two ground wires there. If the bolt has shaken loose just scrape off any paint on the metal, and tighten up that bolt. Solved my problem, havent had any problems since. :D

I've also heard that you not supposed to touch the buld itself with your fingers. Something along the lines of getting oil from your hands on it. Oil + Water = Bad for bulbs

If by LL bulbs you mean long life bulbs, i just put those in for the first time on thursday. as for the bare hands touching bulbs, i've heard that to but the last time the left front went out, I replaced both up front and the passenger side is OK. In fact the Pass front has never gone out.
