  • Want to get a Z28, but is high mileage OK?

In order to keep the price down I want to get a Z28 (LS1, not LT1) for $11k or less, but I may be forced to go for a higher mileage one (over 90k miles) Is the LS1 reliable at high mileage? Input from anyone with experience with this would be appreciated.

    -thanks in advance.

All depends on how the previous owner took car of it. the LS1 is at most 5 yrs old so figure the math...say 90k in 5 yrs= 18000 miles a year. usually with that amount of milage there is a pretty good chance most were high way. Another thing to consider is who is the owner? Is it a teenager/ young 20's? if so do not go near it...it was def beat on.

You may also want to check ebay...lotta low milage cars for less then 11 grand. Just my .02

Ditto. Figure out who was the previous owner. Highway miles aren't bad to an extent. A motor with 90,000 is still a motor with 90,000 miles.

This is one reason I prefer used Camaro SS's and Firehawks as they both are generally treated better throughout their life. Granted for total modification they're not the way to go, but if reliability is key they're probably the better bet in long terms.

The main key is "who was the previous owner?"

I definitely agree, people that buy WS6s, Firehawks, SSs, etc, treat the car better, but unfortunately one of those is just out of my price range.
