• Pennzoil? Good?? BAD????

can someone help me out here. in EZD's post someone was ripping on pennziol, and i was wondering if anyone could comment on this. ive used regular penziol 10w30 since ive owned the car. i have about 85000 on it now. is there something better i should be using? Maybe a high milage oil? i dunno... someone fill me in.

    is pennzoil really bad???

Its not a good oil. I'd switch to something better. I'm friends with a couple mechanics and they always told me to never use it because its a bad oil.

I really dislike Pennzoil / QuakerState Products all together. I'm not much on Castrol either, its almost sticky and varnishes quite badly.

If you want a good oil, especially for that car, which won't cost much more, run the Valvoline Maxlife. I'm getting better wear numbers on Maxlife on my 2002 Camaro with 12,000 on it than I did with Mobil 1 if that tells you anything

There are two oils true to Texas ... Pennzoil and Royal Purple!!! Both based somewhere in the backwoods of Houston.

I use 4 qts Pennzoil HD30 and 1 pt Marvel at every oil change. My engine has 225,xxx original miles. I have no complaints with Pennzoil.

I usually use either Valvoline MaxLife or Durablend 20W50.

Listen if you guys have been using Pennzoil for a long time and it's been the only thing you use, there's no real need to switch. Switching oil all the time is bad anyway. If what you have works and you've never encountered any problems then don't bother switching. As long as you change it every 3000 miles it does the same job as everything else.

True. I have used it on every car I have ever ran. You only need synthetics and stuff if you want the oil to last longer, but I would still recommend that you change it every 3000 Miles, just want to get all the crap out of your engine.

I have taken a toyota pickup over the 200,000 mile mark, and it only ever had pennzoil.

Just use any oil that is approved for your car, and change it OFTEN. You will be fine.

I've got 126,000+ abused miles on my '98 Camaro using Pennzoil. Never touched the engine yet. I also use a Fram filter, so according to some my engine should have exploded...but its just as fast as theirs, and requires less repair. So go figure???
