Every oil manufacterer uses wax in there oils. It helps bring up viscosity levels. After refining the oil all the wax is gone. Most oil company's refine there oil's only once. Pennzoil refines theres twice. So the resedue you are talking about is not from wax. There is no wax in the oil after it has been refined. Pennzoil is good ****.

Thank you! Finally someone posted a link to the page...I frequent there a lot. If you look at the oil tests and read about Pennzoil, you'll see that it is a very good oil. I know a lot of people I know that didn't like Pennzoil did so because "I heard some such and such". Not because of personal bad experiances or seeing bad wear numbers, but by word of mouth.

Personally, I've used Mobil 1, Maxlife, Chevron and Pennzoil. Couldn't really tell a difference between any except Mobil 1 since my wallet was a lot lighter. I stopped using MaxLife since it uses esters I believe to swell seals. Since I don't leak oil, I don't need it or the risk, however small it might be.

Pennzoil is fine in my book and I will continue to use it.

Well I strongly suggest switching from Pennzoil to something else. The worst thing that could happen is that when you switch, you might get more oil leaks. But thats only if the car has a lot of miles on it and been using Pennzoil the whole time. But if you have a newer car, you'll be fine. Nothing else could happen from changing to something else.

well.... if i did switch and "nothing else" would happen then whats the point. i have no leaks right now and yes, my car does have a lot of miles...

it runs well, and the oil pressure is great. so why switch? i'd need more info than that

ill read up on that link in a bit...

The answer to all your oil questions is this. Whatever is on sale or is the cheapest. I order & sell oil for Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart sells more oil by the quart than any company in the country. Our customers almost all have favorite oils they use, just like we do. For our U.S. sales Pennzoil is our #2 seller. #1 is Quakerstate. They are the same company (The Pennzoil/Quakerstate Company). Our #1 Full syn is Mobil 1 10-30, #1 Syn Blend is Castrol 10-30. Valvoline Maxlife is the top high mileage. Thes never change even when the prices do. I just wish we sold parts so we could get some good prices on them.

Yes Mobil 1 SuperSyn 10w30 is the way to go. I have used it since I bought the car. I love it and I try to use the best products in my car no matter the cost. You gotta pay to play.

Does anyone think that Royal Purple or Redline is any better? I have thought about changing to that, but I want some proof that its that much better.

Yeah it's definately the way to go, especially since I seem to be using the worst oil filter and the worst oil on the market...Which is to say cheap. Yet I have more mileage on my Camaro, than practically anyone else here, and I have had no engine work done or ever needed?
OR maybe its simply all about very careful maintenance like I've said all along?

One more thing on oil sales from Wal-mart. Yes I use Valvoline High mile 10-30 in my car, but did you know that our Super Tech oil, $.94 a qt, is the number one selling oil in the U.S.? Its made by the Quakerstate/penzoil co. Pure oil, not remade. Scarry if you ask me. Also our filters, made by champion products only $1.97 are #1 sellers. Not a plug for my company, I dont use the stuff, but da*n. Pepole sure use cheap sh*t these days.
