  • Flush???

I just hit 90k, just wondering if it would be wise to do one of those engine oil flushes? Thanks.

if you ever do a flush MAKE SURE they drop the oil/transmission pan (depending on which you are flushing) and replace the filter before the flush, if you don't, you'll just stir up metal shavings and tear up your engine/transmission

Huh, yeah right! Have you ever dropped your oil pan? I'd much rather deal with metal shavings than do that. Besides, when a power flush is done, oil and filter are removed first so no worries there.

yes i have dropped the pan on my tranny, it really isn't that bad. I just like to be safe, becasue i've heard too many horror stories about people taking their cars to small "oil change" chains and they have their tranny flushed, and after that they have to have their tranny rebuilt. And if on tranny the filter is removed, then that means the have to drop the pan anyway. yest it is a different story for the oil pan.

If the tranny hasn't been taken care of, it will cause more harm than good. It actually needs all the sludge in there to keep things running properly. If you do a tranny service on your car every 30k like you're supposed to, you won't have any problems doing it well past 100k.
