  • peice comes off, smoke coming out, wtf?

I was racing a buddy a while ago and he was behind me, and said that he saw a piece of plasic or something come off the back of my car, then smoke came out from where it fell off. I got worried so I pulled over to take a peek. I noticed that there was a part missing on the flat panel directly above the rear liscence plate (had it been there it would have been parallel to the ground).

    1) is there something there to start with or is there a opening there anyways?

    2) what kind of smoke would be coming out of that area? I would think it would have popped off because of high pressure behind that area, and the smoke pouring out was a result of it.

Thouroughly :D I pretty sure your leaking head gasket wouldnt effect the area above your rear liscense plate though.

The only thing thats above the rear plate is a light bulb. At least the only thing i can think of.

Something probably hit your car, and fell to the ground.

good point, I should check if the lights are on the side or on the top, maybe it blew or something. also about the ad I mentioned that the head gasket was leaking but I didnt say that this had anything to do with it. I'm not really worried about this just curious to what it could be.

If something plastic did fall off your car, or you ran over something in the road. If the piece had alot of dirt on it, hitting the road at high speed could appear to be smoke???? Same for you running over something bouncing up and dislodging dirt, causing small dust/smoke cloud?

A reach but now you won't have to think something is wrong with your car. :D
