• ASR on a V6?

When I was stopped at a light the sun hit my dash pod just right so I could see all the warnings that can come on without the lights actually being on. One of them was ASR off which I have only seen on V8s. That never lights up because I don't have ASR, but I was surprised to see it there because the V6 and V8 pods are different. So some V6s do have ASR?

I've never heard of a V-6 having ASR. I don't think they do, It's just the same dash. The only thing I've seen is SGS traction control for the V6s.

The 98+ Had it as an option. I know that it was available on the 2000+ as an option but I believe that it was also available on the 98 and 99 too. On fire bird it is TCS.

Is ASR just for manuals? I have the TCS on mine.

No, it's for both auto and manual. I test drove one when I was looking for my firebird.

Shortdog273:
ASR is Chevy's name for the traction control while TCS is Pontiac's. Since Pontiac never redesigned their dash, it is placed in that little storage hole in front of the shifter. I guess if you have a conv. bird there will be two switches there.

I have ASR. I love it for rain and snow. But for dragging and burning the tires, just remember to turn it off. ;) If you forget to turn it off, well, lets just say it works. hehe. you don't spin much if any.

I have the SGS also and the only time I have found that it helps is if you get stoped on a hill in the snow (A small hill) then you can kick it in and reduce the slip.
