I think it's a damn good idea.
I've run Mobil 1 synthetic since oil change #3 (and my poor 2000 has about twice as many miles on it as it should right now, slightly over 40k).
On the other hand, since I haven't really run regular oil in it I can't say if the synthetic is better. But I like it. [img]smile.gif[/img]

I used to run Mobil1, changed to Valvoline Maxlife due to the reformulation of Mobil1.
I won't go into detail here, but synthetics are fine in our cars. The main concept behind a synthetic is extended drain intervals though, not better protection necessarily. The protection comes from the oil additives, so you need to choose an oil based upon your driving style and drain intervals - not marketing :D2002 5-spd NBM Camaro
