• It's probably nothing, but...

I've recently noticed a weird sound coming from under the hood a few seconds after I turn off the ignition and get out of the car. At first I thought it was one of those muffled popping noises your car makes when it's hot, but it's a consistent sound. It drives fine, no problems or idiot lights. I've got a 2000 3.8 a4.. Anyone know what the hell this might be??

is it more like a clank/click sound? I have that too...nothing to worry about. It sounds like a release valve or somethin

Yup--actually, I've got the fly-by-wire throttle body. I listened today with the hood open and it sounds like the throttle blade flipping closed.. No biggie...

mine does the same thing so I'm guessing it's normal. It's inside one of those things after the intake where the hose connects from the air box to the rest of the 'car'.

It's sound like your AC Condensor going on and off. Turn your AC off and listen for the sound.

join the club...all 99+ have it...so that would include me :D Yes it's most likely the throttle blade closing. BTW, it's not the A/C stagen, that has it's own set of unique sound effects.
