  • how ive been maintaining low engine temp

i have been keeping the front windshield vent on low. this keeps the temp around 185 degrees. the manual says that the ac will go on when you do this, but performance feels the same as when the ventillation system is turned off.

Yep, running the defroster/defogger will turn on the a/c. The idea is that the a/c air is dryer, and will clear the windshield faster.

When you hit wot, the a/c compressor disengages, whether you are running the defrost or the a/c.

If you run a/c or defroster at the track, you will probably be dripping water on the track...

i guess my point is that when the ac is on the cooling fan for the engine kicks on, doing what i mentioned in the 1st post seems to keep me in the mid 180's with no cons on the performance end of thinks

That's a good point. Same as turning on the a/c. Runs the compressor, kicks the fans on, and no putting in extra switches or anything.

(flipping the a/c on for a few seconds, then turning it back off, will kick the fans on and leaves them running for a little bit too, and won't make drips on the track - if you're at the track and don't have a switch)

And like you said, no performance hit, because the a/c clutch disengages if you floor it.

Having some air moving through the radiator makes a huge difference in the cooling. :D

        p.s.
I wired a fan switch for low speed only, and it was not enough at the track, I'm going to switch it over to the high speed relay instead. No led's or anything, just a simple lighted toggle switch, to ground one relay wire.

I found that the low speed fan wasnt' enough either. I just use my high speed when I need to cool the engine down quick, and man does it work!
