OK, when I turn the AC on (Max AC or reg AC), I notice that my car seems to bog down and hesitate a LOT. When I accelerate, I can feel, see(tach), and hear(Flowmaster ) the car struggling. Try to picture the tach not moving swiftly up, but rather: reg speed, then the needle drops slowly, then reg speed, then the needle drops slowly...get it? And I can feel the car bog down when the tach drops, and hear it bog as well.
Any idea what this could be? The car drives just fine with the AC off. 105K, A4.
I have the same problem, except if i keep it floored when i have ac on, the ac will cut out and my car will pick up like normal until i let go of the gas. is this normal as well??

quote:
Originally posted by BradC: That is perfectly normal. The compressor is cycling on and off according to the temp inside the car.

It's not cycling on and off because of the temp inside of the car, it's because of the pressure of the refridgerant in the a/c system.

quote:
Originally posted by Dekay: That's pretty normal. AC is run off the engine kills the horsepower. Deal with it

Yeah, I know that AC is run off the engine, but I didn't think it would kill power enough to make my car bog down.
My mom's minivan has the AC on all the time, I have never felt what I feel in my car...and I have more power than her (did I just say my 3.4 has more power than another engine???)
mine does the same thing, like if I go up a long hill it'll cut in and out at times and the rpm's jump a lil. Also, mine does it when I'm stopped and in park. If I've been runnin' my A/C the idle rpms will jump up a hundred rpms or so and sorta fluctuate and rev itself a lil....I thought it was strange, but figured there was nothing wrong with that. Good to know others have the same deal with their cars
