SLP Fuel Injectors

This is how I understand fuel flow works in our cars:

The PCM is setup to XXX amount of fuel through a set injector (22#) at YYY amount of throttle/RPM. The PCM keeps the injector open for so many miliseconds thinking that it's supplying the right amount of fuel because it's depending on the static value of that injector not changing.

There is a little leave way for that from what I understand, but anything over 10% injector oversize can't be compensated for and you could possibly still run rich anyway.

You guys have 22# injectors stock, 24 would definitely be fine. On my 3.4L V6, I had 17# stock and bumped to 19#, still NA. With stock cam, I was running rich and had to turn the fuel pressure down some. With the cam that I have in there now and the new internals, it runs fine at the top end with those injectors, but definitely will not hold up to my nitrous shot. At this point, I don't know if I will be going with a 24# or a 26# injector.

My point is that you should really rethink doing injectors depending on other mods on the car. Do not expect and SOTP gains from injectors only. Talk to some of the other guys with more mods and see what their experiences have been.

If I remember right, the LS1 injectors are rated at 60 psi, rather than the typical 43.5/44 psi.

A 28.8 at 60 psi is the same as a 24.5 at 44 psi.

so our stock (L36) fuel pump will provide 43.5/44 psi? which would mean we could buy those slp injectors & have in effect 24.5# injectors?

I was under the impression that we had the same stock fuel pump as the V8's. If thats wrong then he's right and those would flow lower (unless you have a higher flowing fuel pump)

I believe the pump in the v6 cars flows less volume than the v8.

But the psi is controlled by the fpr. So even if you have a higher flowing pump, your psi should remain about the same, if you keep the stock fpr.

The LS1 fpr is set at a higher psi.

I don't remember where I saw the 60 psi number though. I've searched around here for it, but didn't find it. Seems like Magnus is the one who told me the LS1 injector ratings are based on the higher psi.

The fuel pump in the V8 is the same as in the V6.

John_D's right, I'd had forgotten all about the fpr cutting down on the pressure. So in that case, those 29# injectors would work.

But as someone stated above, it's really not any good without some sort of power-adder (N2O, Turbo,Super Charger) or a stout N/A engine as well as some sort of tuning options (MAFT, AFPR, etc).

Either way, I'm still in for a group purchase of them if we can get enough people together and get em down to whatever the lowered price for 6 is!
