Ok, car hesitates under load... it revs ok in neutral, if I accelerate normally (not granny style) car starts to sputter... SES light came on, got it checked - cylinder 5 misfire. Ok, now I pulled the plug, it looks fine, wire looks fine... so the question is, how can I test wire and the plug if they are in working condition or not? Cuz I don't feel like shelling out 30 bucks for a set of wires when it might be the coilpack or ignition module that aren't working...

Testing SES is a problem cuz I have to drive 10 miles to the nearest autozone through city traffic... this puts a lot of strain on choking engine...
Considering I'm saving big bux on labor I might as well just put a set of new wires, instead of damaging and causing unnesecary wear on the engine. 30 bucks is always cheaper than an engine rebuild If that doesn't work, replace plugs. How hard is it to pull the fuel injector out? I've never pulled injectors out before, so I have no clue on how to do it.
Also, SES light is flashing if I'm at full throttle redlining 2-nd gear... when it's sputtering under normal acceleration it doesn't flash... I was thinking maybe it would be cheaper to diagnose the problem at the dealer rather than replacing wires, plugs, coils and then find out it's not the problem...

I've been having the same problem for several months now. I've replaced the wires, plugs, and coil pack. Yet, I still have the same misfire on #3. Mine hesitates when trying to pull out into traffic.
I think the only thing left is the injector.White 1997 Pontiac Firebird 3.8L V6
W68 Apperance Package
SLP Strut-Tower Brace
V8 Bilsten Shocks
