Well congrats man. I'm thinkin maybe taking my coil packs off and see whats in there. I doubt it's the fuel problem (unless bad injector), since it can rev up to redline quite easily without other cylinders misfireing.

Where did you find all that sludge at? Under the coil pack? Between the ignition module and coil pack for cylinder 5?

i took off the whole harness...

then took off all the coil packs, and where the coil packs plug into.. there are metal prongs...

also, underneath the ICM, there is a metal plate.. i sanded that up and cleaned it off making it shiny again. i sanded everything metal. then i went over it with rubbing alcohol..

it only took a total of about..30 min

Did you actually take the whole ignition module out first, and then took off coilpacks from removed module? Cuz there are plenty of wires underneath the module, did u have to disconnect all of them?

Also, when u first got your misfire problem, was it sudden or gradual? Also, did your engine bog down at low rpms, but was a little better on higher rpms? (like above 2500rpms)

        Thnx for the input.

i took out the whole module.. to get the wire harness off..its a 7mm bolt...

anyways, yea..it was gradual.. over 3 or 4 months i've had that cylinder 5 misfire..

at idle..it would idle fine for about 10 seconds, then studder down low for a second, then idle fine again.. when AC was on... oh god.. bad!

if i were to cruise say at 45mph in 4th gear.. about..2200-2300 rpms..it would be smooooth! like no misfire

Ok, I guess I'm gonna have to take the whole thing out and see if it's got any dirt there.

No man, right now I just don't have time to work on it. I'm hoping to do it tomorow or friday. What kind of tools will I need to remove the module and coil packs? Thnx.

I got my car scanned today and all it brought up the misfire code. So my father thinks he may have cracked one of the plugs when he was putting them new ones in last weekend. So I'll be changing that plug out Sunday and we'll see. I was thinking it was the coil packs too, so i'll have to take a look at that too. Thanks for the updates.

i forget what size for the coil packs.. its small tho

I'm about to have a nervous breakdown heh...

Ok, removing ignition module took me about 2 hours. The sucker wouldn't come out, cuz of stupid fuel lines in a way. So I had to remove one of the coilpacks INSIDE the engine bay, with my hands barely sticking inside. Ok, so I got that ***** out and took the pack off for cylinder 5.. yes I noticed some green sludge type of thing, but it's not a lot, just a little, so I doubt it would create resistance enough to block the current flow. Ok, so I went to parts store to get the coilpack tested. The guy said he can't test it, pitched me to buy a voltometer and said I can't return the coilpack once I buy it. If I had so much money to spare I would've taken it to dealership and get it over with in 1 day. So, now I'm thinking of cleaning the terminals and buying a cheapest coilpack (OE replacement, 21$)...cuz after cleaning the contacts I don't want to spend another 2 hours putting it back together only to find out it didn't help any. So then I'll have to spend another 2 hours removing it, putting new coilpack in and then putting it back again.. another 2 hours... so I'm on my way to buy coilpack now, cleaning the terminals and I HOPE this will solve the problem. If not I'm going to be pissed..
