It would have cost you less if you went to the dealer first. But, I'm a diagnostic freak myself, so I can't complain either...
After all of that, I would run it to the dealer to get it scanned. You may start dumping alot more than $150 into the engine before you finally come across the solution. It COULD be a minor sensor who knows, but I would have them find it for me. It's gotta be in the computer's history/memory for them to find.

If it's happening at a specific RPM, check your TPS sensor. This was a common problem that I ran into while working at a local Autozone. If you have an multimeter with a voltage bar, you can hook up the leads so that as the piece is rotated, you can see the bar move on your multimeter. If there is a spike or a drop on the voltage, then that's where the computer isn't getting a signal of where the throttle plate is and won't dump the right amount of fuel in and will throw off the ignition timing.

I really suggest the TPS sensor. I think you will find some help there.

If it's throwing codes you can take it to AutoZone and they will scan it for FREE!

Also, check the vacuum source to the fuel pressure regulator. That's what happened to mine, it's under warranty so the dealership fixed it. Also, the extra fuel killed my catalytic converter so they replaced that too.

Good luck.

what do i set the multimeter to?

what voltages should be best?

WOW! I had too the same problem as yours. I change the plugs, wires, coils and FUEL filter. Have you change your fuel filter? Mine runs good like its new again.

Ok I changed wires, it didn't help... next thing is swappin plugs and see if that helps... next I'm going back to autozone and see if it's misfireing on 2 cylinders. If it does, then it's almost surely coilpack. If it's only 5th cylinder, that means it's an injector or sticky valve or maybe even a bent pushrod or other things... After plugs I'm putting some water remover and injector clears into the gas tank. If that doesn't help, I will be changing the fuel filter (probably has to be changed already). If that's no go, then maybe it's time to take it to the dealer or begin injector project.

Actually I doubt it's the TPS, but if it would be it, it would throw codes for TPS.

After I changed wires I noticed intersting change in the behavior of the misfire: it used to be when I was accelerating, it wasn't flashing, only if I redline 2nd gear... now it flashes if I give it anything above 30% of the throttle. At idle the exhaust is rattling like crazy, banging on the hangers. Man, what a pain the *** ....

Actually if you're saying it runs perfectly when it's cold (thus it's in cold loop), then it might be one of the sensors, since when it gets to hot loop it starts to get readings from the sensors. Get your codes scanned again.

Get the cylinder pressure tested. That will either esablish or eleminate internal engine problem such as sticky valve or even a bent pushrod.

Is your exhaust banging? If so, get your cat checked... it might be clogged too...

I just put fuel injector cleaner into the tank, bought cheap *** autolite plug for like 1.25$, gonna put it in as soon as the engine cools off and see if that helps.
