I have a 96 and want to put in a 160 stat. do i need the IAT resistor? will it help for power at all let me know? I am in arizona so I want my car to run as cool as possible. i Know this has been covered but in my search I coldnt find if on a 1996 the resistor on the IAT would help? thanks.

Nope, 96's are fine without it. You only need the resistor for 01/02 model cars, due to a PCM code change. It is not used for more power, its used to eliminate the gauge failure/fans kicking on high/ses light issue with the late model V6s.2002 5-spd NBM Camaro
