  • new engine or rebuild

MY 94 3.4 camaro has 188,000 miles and I know it is going to die sooner or later. My question is when it goes will it be cheaper to get it rebuild, to buy a create engine or buy a used motor from junkyard (will it be reliable?). If a new motor where could I get one?

I found some prices on low mileage motors but can anyone tell me on average how much a rebuild would cost with no performance parts just stock ones? Also is there a company that makes a create motor for the 3.4 camaros?

no offense.. but why would you want a crate 3.4?

it would only cost a few hundred more ot get a 3.8 w/harness and motor mounts. i say do that.

for used motors that are tested and work before they are sold.

I wouldn't do the 3.8 swap because the 3.4 is a 60 degree engine and the 3.8 is a 90 degree engine witch would make it hard to swap. This car is my daily not some race car so I can't take forever on the swap because I have to be able to go to work. I know putting in a 3.4 engine want take only a day but I can find a car to drive for a week or so but I wouldn't want to have to get it to do an install that would not be just a direct bolt in. I've already asked about doing that swap somewhere else because the 3.8 does have a better selection of performace parts.
