I might have asmall, slow drip that doesnt even hit the ground. Only since i went over the curb and dented the oil pan though, so probably not rear seal. Got about 45k on it.

never once in the V6 (RIP 69xxx miles)

Nor in either LS1 vehicle I've owned.
In the DSM, though...that thing was a rolling oil leak.

I do not have a rear main seal oil leak on my '96.

However, the GM part number for the oil drain plug *gasket* is #14090908. Comes in a package of 5.

It is a steel washer with a neoprene rubber seal molded in, highly recommended.

The cheap rubber seals, available at Autozone for example, get chewed up on the threads when reinstalling the 15MM drain plug and causing a slow oil leak centered where a rear main seal may leak therefore throwing you off for what may not be a bigger problem.

I have a slow leak that has always been there, never really worried about it. Never need to add oil or anything.

PS leaks a bit, although it's not as bad since I changed to synthetic PS fluid.

Engine leaks a bit on to the Y pipe,(small drips on floor).

I'm going to try the drain pan plug. Seems to be getting worse with each oil change.

                        Thanks for the tips.

mine leaks, 89,xxx miles. I honestly think it's more of a 5-speed thing. We don't have that heavy torque converter to help soften the shifts. And it's been leaking since about 45k miles. In a 3-4k mile oil change I think I loose about a half a quart or so between normal consumption and the leak.
