  • Missfiring in Rain

O.K. I have read a bunch of the posts that deal with the camaros miss firing and bogging down, Here is the story, anytime it rains, or i go thru a car wash the vehicle will start to run rough and miss fire alot, then the next few days it will bog down and miss fire around 2-3 thousand RPM and in cruise, What do i replace? Plugs, Coils, can I test these before buying?

i would start by replacing your plugs and wires...usually you also want to get an oil change done when you do this...sometimes i get missfires on my car when i run the nitrous...but its worse is the rain or when the dew point is up ...just the way it is...also if you have the factory platinum plugs...i'd throw them right out and just run standard plugs...they're so much better...if you get a repair manual they usually have a picture chart of spark plugs in there and you can tell by looking at what condition the plug is in when you take it out and be able to tell what your problem is...good luck!

If it happens mainly when water is involved, I'd look into the coil packs. An easy way to check them is the next time it begins to run rough, take a screwdriver handle and tap on them and see if it goes away. Generally, I have found that these fourth generation f-bodies have a real dislike for moisture on those coil packs. The mount itself has a kind of resevoir design that actually holds water some. If I were the engineer, I probably would have done that differently...but then again...If I were the engineer....it might not run at all!
      Blessings!

There are rubber seals around the elctrical conncetions of the coil packs. Make sure that they are in good shape also.
