  • Flushing Radiator & Tranny?

something broke and my tranny fluid got mixed with my radiator coolant so theres a oily residue all in my radiator, i dont have the money even for a tranny right now never the less for a radiator.

Is it possible to use some sort of cleaner to flush it out? I removed it and i ran water through it for a few minutes but im sure theres still residue inside.

What about the tranny, how do i flush it?

As I said in the other thread, your radiator is bad. Flushing it out won't do any good. Unless, you plug the cooler holes, and run an aftermarket tranny cooler, therefore bypassing the bad part of the radiator. (about 15-40$)

If you do that, THEN buy a flush kit and flush the coolant system, that way. (about 7$)

The transmission has to usually be flushed by a garage that has the equipment. (usually 40$ + the new fluid) Unless you want to go through quart after quart of tranny fluid, doing it the shadetree way, and let the intake line suck from one container, and waste into another. Bad idea.

Have you checked for coolant in the oil? This should be taken care of FIRST, if so. As like I also said in the other thread, it sounds like overheating caused this.

right for some reason i totally forgot it was messed up internally.

Does any one know if a LT1 radiator would bolt up directly?

Does any one know if a 3.8 tranny is direct replacement for my 3.4 tranny?

        No, flow is backwards.

        No, bell housing is different.

          Your priorities are jumbled.

Sorry to say, but if coolant continues to get into the transmission, you will kill it fast.

If transmission oil gets into the cooling system, you may kill the waterpump or clog the cooling passages, killing the engine.

I know it's expensive. But it's not worth the risk in this case. Waiting is going to cost you MUCH more. Both need to be flushed before putting the car back into service.
