Hey everyone. I ran a diagnosis scan because my SES light was on, and I get the P0449 (Evap. thing) code. I got this yesterday and all I had to do was tighten the gas cap even though it was already tightened. This time, it won't go away! I need to fix this ASAP as the guy who's buying the car will be here saturday. Thanks!

could be more than just the gas cap needing to be tightened.
thats just a first thought

did you have the computer reset?

P0449 sounds like a possible problem with the EVAP vent valve, or some wiring between the PCM and the valve.Matt

i tried reseting my computer by disconnecting the neg. batt. terminal (right way to do it?), but my power stayed on. It was strange, I never had that happen before. I had the door open when I disconnected it, and the lights stayed on.

The EGR valve (driver side exhaust) is probably sticking.Robert - owner www.FirebirdV6.com/CamaroV6.com

Turn the ignition to on and pull the pcm fuse under the hood on the drivers side. Wait for aprox 3 mins and turn the ignition off and reinsert fuse. If the code comes back it might be a defective cap.
