the dos version is better than the windows version on the auto tap program.
I have heard of lots of problems with the windows version.
Are you asking what is autotap or how to use it?
Do you have the autotap cable? Well yeah it is used to diagnose data that is sitting on your pcm.
You have to know how to read it and what to look for of course.

If your Toshiba is old enough to have something pre-Win95 (3.1???), It's not going to be fast enough to drive the software or feed you realtime information. You're going to need something faster. What are you looking to monitor? Most people with that setup monitor changes with different N2O nozzles.\'94 Camaro 3.4<br />\"No, Starvin Marvin. That\'s my pot pie.\"

I got an Autotap a couple of weeks ago. I don't have the manual handy, but in DOS mode it doesn't require very much. Seems like the recommended was a 486DX2 66mhz.
You can monitor up to 8 parameters. I haven't needed to see 8 at once yet. The less you monitor, the faster it can keep up. If you plan to log a lot of data, you may need some disk space. I haven't checked the size of the log file produced. My 0-80mph logs produced about 800 records, which is not very much space.
You will probably find more in advanced tech than general tech, when searching.
I posted some more info in another thread here in general tech this morning.
