  • why cant i pass emissions?

well i took my car to the emissions station for the third time today and it failed again. my hydrocarbons are 1.6 and they are supposed to be .8. i am getting pretty angry that my car isnt passing and all the trips and waiting at the emission station. i have a brand new hi flow cat on and am wondering if maybe thats the culprit. i just replaced both o2 sensors (ac delco) and everything in my engine is only about 3 months old as i just rebuilt it. i did take my a.i.r. pump off so maybe that is hurting me as well. im trying to get a waiver, but i have to spend 450 bucks to get that, and receipts must be after the first failed test, but all my reciepts are before that so they dont count. any advice on what i should do? im thinking about buying some parts, using the receipts to get a waiver and then return the parts and get my money back. any other thoughts?

i just rebuilt my engine, everything was replaced, the o2 sensors that i replaced were only 2 months old, but i replaced them anyway. im not spending more money replacing new parts. my dad is worried the cam might be the problem, but im pretty sure it is smog legal.

i looked at my spark plugs just to make sure, and they look fine, would changing the gap on them help burn more fuel as i am running a little rich.

the air pump is history, i threw it away a while ago, is there any other way to lean the fuel mixture out? maybe i should look into a adjustable fuel pressure regulator

the air pump should pass you. If you lean it out don't do it to much cause to lean of a mixture is bad emissions to lol. Im glad i don't have emissions
