  • Problem with engine

I have a 98 camaro 3.8 with 78K miles. While i was driving it i noticed a bit of a shake in the car. The engine has a hard time acelerating. The problem has goten worse. When i am driving, if i step on the gas the car shakes a little bit and has a hard time accelerating. It feels like the car is not getting enough fuel. The rpms go up and down, while under acceleration. And there is a dramtic decrease in power. When the problem started there was no SES light. But Today after i started it up, the SES light went on.

I am not sure what the problem is, I was thinking mabe something with the fuel system. Any help would be greatly appretiated.
    Thanks.

The problem seems to be similar to this here.

My car is automatic. It the car does not have a hard time shifting.
    Thanks again.

How about having the SES light scanned for starters?

alright i took it to auto zone. i didnt know they check it for free. And they told me that cylinder 4 was misfiring. So tomarrow i am going to replace spark pulgs, and spark plug wires. Hopefully, that will solve the problem.

thats what it is. the car will shake and have a hard time accelerating when the plugs are not firing properly.

youll notice a big difference once you get the new ones in. becareful how you route your wires.

Sounds like a plug wire is loose or a plug is missing. Try unsnapping and resnapping all the wires on/off.

Hopefully it's a plug or wire. The 1/4 coil is all the way in the back. :(

I changed the drivers side spark plugs, but the passenger side was too hard. Which is of course where #4 is located. So i am going to take it to a shop to have them do it. The guy said it was going to be $120 for the wires and plugs. He also said I could have a dead fuel injector. Hopefully its just the plugs and wires.

When I got my camaro, about 4 hours later it was shaking and running very rough.

It was kinda cool cause it was running like it had a very agressive cam and what not.

Turns out my CPU(?) was dead cause a sensor kept burning it out. I paid to have it replaced cause I did'nt know a thing bout f-bodies at the time.

Aparently, I still don't know what part belw, but the part alone was like $300 from GM.

I just got it back from the shop and they finished replacing the spark plugs & wires. The car runs great. I am glad that it was only the plugs & wires. It cost me $120 to get them replaced.

Thank you everyone for helping me out!!!!!
