  • Antifreezy smell in exhaust

When ever my car is started and I stand behind it, a nausiating sweet fishy smell is emitted badly. The car is not losing any coolant what so ever and it never overheats nor has it ever overheated in the past, got hot a few times but never overheated. Could this be a blown head or intake manifold gasket? I never smelled burning coolant before on any car but it definatly does not smell like normal exhaust. What can I do to have it tested or anything? Would burning coolant be picked up in emissions tests?

There may be a very small leak in the head gasket. Not big enough to cause a large ploom of smoke out of the pipes, but enough to give off the smell you're describing. You should get a compression test done by someone *only if* you don't know how to do it yourself.
Not sure about the emission test though, but driving with a bad head gasket any longer could make things much worse than they already are...
