  • tranny fluid leak

I just got a coolant leak fixed behind my tensioner pulley, a new tensioner pulley and a new power steering pulley.

    I have 2 questions:

1- my tranny fluid is leaking somewhere bad, but never hitting the ground. the only fluid that hits the ground is oil, from my rear main seal (yay). I put tranny fluid in and its gone fairly quickly. I thought maybe a pinhole in my pan, but i tried that anti leak crap, and it didnt help a thing. Where could the tranny fluid be going? I dont understand.

    Next one,
When i start my car, the idle fluxuates like, 1000rpm, 1200rpm, 1000rpm, 1300rpm. after like 20seconds its fine. But, at an idle, when i turn my wheel, the revs my engine? wtf is that? I just noticed it the other day, it doesnt rev it much, to like 1500 at the highest. Why would it do this? Power steering fluid = full.

Also when the shop changed my anti freeze im pretty sure they put dex-cool in and my parents dont want me changing it right now to the green stuff, so, yay, dex-cool kills another engine, true life stories.

Thanks for all the help guys,
    brink.

I think its normal for your car to idle high when you first start, I know mine does. My revs also go a little higher if i turn the wheel but not to 1500. Why would dex cool be hurting your engine if thats what you're supposed to have in it. I've been using dex cool in both my Firebird and Trans Am and never had a problem with it.

Well when dex-cool hits oxygen it turns to gooey crap.

Anyways, do you have any clue where my tranny fluid could be going? I read something about a possibly my rear main seal leak having something to do with a tranny seal somewhere? i dunno.

There is no tranny fluid on the ground though, thats what i dont understand!

unless its a tranny / oil mix thats on the ground..

Stop racing all these cars and maybe your rear main seal wont go...Anyway,Transmission fluid is red.Its spotted fairly easy on the ground, even when mixed with other kinds of oil.As for your idle, upon startup its normal (I think you already knew that). If its keeps flucuating then theres a problem.Do you have any SES lights? How often do you check transmission fluid?

i smell a retard, blaming my seals going bad on racing, when my car has 140,000 mi. I'm pretty sure its about time, ive only owned it since 135k and when i got it the rear main was already leaking.

maybe the tranny fluid is leaking while im driving.. but where could it be leaking from?
