  • Whats wrong with my wipers? (Video w/ sound)

Whenever I turn my wipers on there is a really bad noise coming from the wiper motor (I think).

To better help you understand, I went out and made a quick little video of it.

    Thoughts?

I'll tell you exactly what that is cause I had the same problem with mine. The wiper motor bolts on in one location and then there are two prongs with rubber bushings on the opposite side that fit into slots on the body of the car. What happened to me was one of the bushings eventually got torn apart from the force behind the motor and even gouged out in some places. First I tried just taping it back up but after a while it started knocking again so then I used a glue gun to fill the holes and taped it up again. It's been fine ever since... but I warn you the motor is in one tight spot and is a big pain in the *** to work on.

Hm...I'll probably have a better understanding of what you're talking about once I actually see it. Is there any kind of special tool I need to use to get those...um...securing devices off to get that black shroud off? Also once I get them off are they re-usable?

Once you take the bolt out the whole assembly will slide out... the other two ends are basically just laid in place so all you need is a socket wrench. The bushings may be repairable... like I said I just glued mine up but they could be torn up badly and you might need new ones. Before you actually unbolt the motor just reach you hand in and lift up on it to be sure that is indeed the problem. It should not move if the bushings are in good shape.

I've watched that video 4 times now and I am convinced you've got the same problem I had. There is definitely nothing normal about the way they sound because since I fixed mine they are that quiet you wouldn't know they were turned on... I couldn't believe the difference.
