Blindly throwing money at a car in an attempt to make it fast will get you nowhere.

Start with the basic intake/exhaust/drivetrain stuff.

Read the modifications encyclopedia at the top, then search the forum for the previous 10,000 posts asking the same question.

        $1500? Okay.

Well, if you keep saving you could get a nice turbo set-up. There's one for our cars on eBay right now for only $1900. Or...

Say $350 for a Magnaflow exhaust.
        About $130 for ram air.
About $20 to get rid of airbox (intake hose)
About $500 if you get a good deal on a rearend (I'd go 3.73 and LSD if you don't have a Y87)
About $350 for a good cam
Keep saving with the rest or get the basic tune up stuff: good plugs, wires, ignition coil, etc.

FREE: Shave airbox lid, Free Ram Air (gotta do that w/ the ram air systems anyway), remove MAF screen, weight reduction (spare tire, seats, etc)

Don't worry about headers because your tubular exhaust manifolds are good enough.

Just what I meant by blindly throwing money around. A cam is $300, but it'll end up costing close to $800-1000 by the time you finish installing it yourself. Plus almost another $1000 to have a shop do it.

exhaust, whisper lid, k&n air filter, headers, high flow cat, gears, posi. and a good tuner.

with a good tuner you can free up to as much as 15 hp. easy. if you are intersted i have a hp tuner for an 01 camaro/firebird v6. worth over $500. i only used it a couple of times. and since i'm fully tuned now i don't need it. it's only a few months old. and ready for the update 2.0 verison. if your intersted email me at daubert19xxx@yahoo.com
