changing air filters will not do very much. You'd have to replace the whole induction system ie ram air, cold air, whisper lid....But expect to see 10+hp from the exhaust

Is it possible to get the ram air power without changing hoods?

          Underhood Ram-Air..cold air intake...

Same concept, same/better results..MUCH cheaper then buying a Ram-Air hood...

Let me just apologize ahead of time for all the stupid questions I will ask...

Anyway - The SLP says up to 25 HP - how can you make sure you get close to that.

SLP's website says up to 25HP... that is harsh! Not bad though... looks like I have my work cut out for me!

Most restrictive part of the non Ram-Air LS1's (I've worked on them before, Dad owns one too), is the Y pipe and intake.

Basic mods for the v8 (I may not own one, but i'm on the v8 boards all the time for suspension info )

                      1. Exhaust, GMMG, Corsa, Loudmouth, Hooker. Those are the best I have heard in no paticular order. Make sure you get 3" all the way back (GMMG for instance is basically just a muffler, for 700 bucks, you still need a 3" I-pipe to get the really nice gains). Headers if you can afford it (longtube are best, but you cannot lower car w/ them on. Midlength might be a good tradeoff if you want to lower car. Do not get shorties, wast of money on a v8), y-pipe will help as well.

                      2. Induction, go for a whisper lid, and the fasttoys system is great. While your at it, grab a holley filter (I have one, excellent construction!).

                      3. You need to put all that power to the ground. A pair of LG motorsports race adjustable Lower control arms will help with that (read up on rod - ended lca's on ls1.com's autox & road racing forum). Panhard bar, better tires, torque arm, etc.

You have already spent a good deal of money right there. From there you could go to work on the engine w/an LS6 intake manifold, camshaft, port & polish heads.

Really, cz28.com, ls1.com, and ls1tech.com are the best places to look for this kinda info. Check them out, all three are excellent sites. ls1.com & ls1tech.com especially have loads of information on suspension & autocross

Fast Toyrs ram air is great for the LS1 cars! And the only car I have heard with a GMMG catback sounded BAD *** ! I have heard alot of great sounding ls1's, but the GMMG takes the cake IMO.

everyone forgot the most important thing! !CAGS delete is a must. I'm sure you'll notice that if you take off lightly out of first gear, the transmission will force you to shift to fourth. Remove this pain in the butt by either buying a kit from SLP or do it for $1.50. Here's the link...
