remove flex plate
remove seal
replace seal
replace flex plate
replace trasmission
drink beer..
pully a tranny isn't that tough just time consuming and dirty.. you can pull a transmission on jack stands you are just gonna need a helper and a floor jack and some common sense..-Brad

this bring up a good question.
Since i'm getting my transmission replaced, would it be good for me to goto autozone and pick up 1 of those things that someone listed and have them replace it when they're ripping apart my car?
also, which one is better?
my rear main isn't leaking that bad, but it has a small leak that's a little noticeable when I change the oil.Comment

It would be a good time to change it and save some labor $$$. But, verify that it is really your rear main seal leaking and not the oil pan gasket seeping.

Not sure if its the same for you guys but I have had problems with seals that every brand seal leaked except the GM one. May be different then you, just because its aftermarket doesn't mean its better.Comment
