• Wiper Arm Removal... Can't get the damn things off! Need suggestions

Hey guys,

I know this is kind of a boring question but....
I'm trying to replace my windshield wiper motor. I can't seem to get the damn windshield wiper arms off after taking off the nut. Anyone have any suggestions? Is there a locking mechanism that i don't know about?

One more question... is this replacement relatively easy to do? Will I run into any other problems?

I appreciate any tips. Im starting to get pissed off, but id rather not pay like $200 to have someone else do it. You know that 200 can go towards headers

I know they are a PITA to get off. What worked for me was to put the wiper arms in the lifted position and then grab ahold of it with both hands and wiggle like crazy. When you go to put them back on, dab a little grease on the post, should help if you ever need to take them back off again.

lol.. yeah.. this is a real pain in the *** fix man.. mine were stuck on there too.. i think what i did wsa put the nut back on slightly (maybe 2 threads, but still stickign up past the top of the shaft) then put a 2 jaw puller on it and used the nut to keep the center of the puller aligned on the post. took a while but it finally popped off. good luck and try not to use that crowbar.. lol..

Yes, they are hard to remove. GM actually has a special tool to remove them. I borrowed one from my local NAPA.

Just make sure you don't pry with the crowbar touching the plastic cowl. The glass actually goes under it about 2 inches. Trust me, you don't want to find that out the hard way.
