  • GAS PEDAL QUESTION

i dont know if it has to do with the ect, but when i'm driving the gas pedal feels alot stiffer and takes effort to push it down, then if i let all the way off it returns to normal. It takes 2 times as much effort to press the gas pedal down as normal, but only until i let off the gas.

Not sure if it is supposed to, or if is fuel pressure related. Basically it gets 2 times as resistant to being depressed.

it does this once in a while, when not in od going like about 40-50 mph. I'll be driving fine, do to press pedal and it's stiffer, let off gas and back to normal.

I don't think this is your situation but this happened to me for a few days. Whenever I put the gas pedal down it took a little more effort and after it went down so far i felt a pop. Well one day I vacuumed and found that the floormat got folded up under the pedal (probably shifted under my feet when I pulled a fast turn the night before) and whenever I put the gas pedal down far enough it would pop back out from underneath it. Scared me for awhile

Check under your hood - is the mechanism attatched to the throttle body stable? It's a spring that when you depress the gas it opens then throttle. I've heard of it getting corroded sometimes.

Wow, I wonder if that part is going out. I know I hear mine close the TB after the car is turned off. I have a 99. I was going to say maybe the T cable was in a bind, but if its like mine, something's not right with the controller. I wonder if you can adjust the pressure you feel on the pedal.

I guess it really does it after switching from od down in to drive and sometimesin od. Maybe it is from switching to lower rpm in od or something. I guess i'll just go til something breaks andthen fix it. One way to find whats wrong
