Lately I've been noticing that my car has been burning alot of oil. The temp. has been rising pretty hot lately too and when I open the hood after driving there is noticable smoke coming from the engine. Not really sure what the problem is, I've been using 10W-30 syn.blends the past two oil changes. Should I switch to full syn.and go to 5W-30? Or could there be a more serious problem? BTW my car has been going through antifreeze like crazy too. Car has 160,xxx+ miles.

Where is the smoke coming from? What color is it? You probably have a decent oil leak somewhere and it is getting on the manifolds/headers.
It is possible, when you switched to synthetics, you introduced the leak (it can happen). Or it is possible the gaskets are toast after 160K miles. Are there oil spots under the car after it has been parked for a while?
As far as the antifreeze, does you dipstick have mikly white foam on it? Are there antifreeze spots under the car?

As for the smoke, it is white and seems to be coming right off the right side of the engine. And for the antifreeze I checked the dipstick and there isnt any foamy substance just what seems to look like mud. There isnt any noticable leaks either. And btw what does BHG stand for? I think it might be the gaskets or maybe I need to switch to a lower therm.?

Yeah, sounds like a head gasket since what you're describing could be oil in the coolant. When you change your oil does it look like chocolate milk?1994 Firebird 3.4<br />15.65 @ 86.8<br /><a href=\"http://www.funkz.net/firebird.htm\" target=\"_blank\">funkz.net/firebird</a><br /><a href=\"http://mywebpages.comcast.net/funkz/timeslips.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Timeslips</a>
