I have a 96 camaro for some reason it won't start. i have had to push start it for awhile now but not even that will work now. i thought it was the battery or starter but no all is good there battery has 12.6 volts and starter is good. so this is what's going on i open the door light is on so i press on the brake and it turns off. when i try to start the car it clicks then it makes a noise like when you have the key in with the door open but it's faster and loader. radio works but takes time to start and also to get the sound to the speakers.
so what could this be? i was thinking about wiring is fried?
when being cranked what volts should i be looking for? no when i press on the brake the dome lights turn off but when let go of the brake they light back on.
go to a local autozone or advanced and get them to load test your battery.. sounds like thats the problem to me at least... and battery voltage will drop according to hw many cold cranking amps you have. our cars take a 75 series battery. wiht 500 cca, you will see about 10.0V under load, but no less if the battery is good. if you have 700 cca, expect it to drop no less than 10.75 - 11.0 V under load.

yeah it was the battery it was dead! also it won't start sitting so it's the starter as well. i'll check that out tomorrow b/c i can push start it. thanks for the help
another update- didn't have time to work on the car today but it didn't want to start by turning the key so push started it. later that night i tired the key again heared some clicking but it started up. just a few minutes ago went out side and started it twice with the key. so what now? i don't think it's the starter but i'll find out tomorrow i'll take it out and take it to autozone to get it checked then i'll go from there.
