Same thing happened to me when I finally got the engine back together. My problem was a plug wire that was getting cooked through. Changed it out and all is well (except for that mystery water pump leak).

Devon, what makes you think its not opening? Is it overheating?

yeah i belive its prob a bad plug wire by my dumbass forgot to chage them i guess i didnt wna to spend like 60$ on them because i thought mine were still good but i guess 125,000 miles on stock wires arnt lol my fault and yes the thing is overeating the fans kick on and the thing still want open so im going go buy another 1 tomm and try to see if that helps but i figured its either a misfire or coil gone bad or wiresomething liek that also i sound liek my power steering pump pulley is rattling or something from that area any 1 had this prob and finally why my car was grinding is beacue i had it in between 1st and 2nd but it showed that it was in parkof the shifter so just a little fyi

Make sure you bled all of the air out of the coolant system. It looked full to me but still had alot of air and that was causing mine to overheat at first.
