  • lots of smoke everywhere

Everytime I start my engine I get serious smoke out of the engine bay for about 4 minutes! I also get some smoke out of the tail pipe.
I just changed my intake gaskets because I thought I was getting coolant in the oil. Back then my oil level looked like it had risen. I check my oil all the time and it looks perfectly fine, same level (its a mix of full synthetic and "Engine Restore").

I think I'm gonna do another compression check (which wont really tell me much). There is some other test I can run, I forgot the name of it (but it checks for bad H/Gs). I'm gonna send my oil off for an analysis.
    I'm really having hell

i dont have a clue where all the smoke comes from! I can understand that maybe I poured some oil on the header and it burned off, but everytime I start it it smokes.

Its most likely caused by that engine restore stuff, what condition was your engine in before you used that stuff? How many miles are on it?

Well, you know it's got to be leaking from somewhere to get smoke in the engine bay. If it's smoking when you first start it, then it's got to be burning off the exhaust manifolds or Y pipe. Those are the only parts that would get hot enough that quickly. I would wait until the car is cool, then check/feel around those areas for wet oil. Then you'll have an idea where it's leaking from.

check the back of the intake manifold. i just had this same problem and it was coming from the back of the engine bay on the back side of my intake mani.(i know i know lt1 and 3.8 is different but lt1 intakes leak from the back side of the manifold and since you just did intake gaskets i'd start there.)

already stated the condition. I said I thought I was getting coolant in the oil, because the oil level had risen, plus
I got smoke out of the tail pipe. It seems like its smoking more now, then back then. Its SPORADIC though. its got 32k miles

I think I'm just gonna tear it apart again and start over. This time I will change the head gaskets, check the block for cracks, and check the heads for cracks. My compression tests are good
