  • A/C and heat Problems

I've tried quite a few searches on this but since the search function strips out 'common' keywords there's not a lot of useful results that come up.

My A/C and heater work fine. There's a tick noise that recently developed that you can barely hear at high fan speeds but that doesn't bother me much, because I usually have it on low or with the windows down. No need to tear anything apart to fix that. My issue is that when I have the switch at the OFF position, I still get air blowing at my feet. And it's not just heat from the engine or anything either, because if I change the fan speed or temperature it will adjust accordingly.

Think this is anything complicated? Or is it something as simple as the contacts in the control switch may be messed up?

    Thanks guys.

When your fan is "Off" it still blows fresh air into the car at a very low setting. This was introduced by GM way back in time - I think maybe the 60's - as a safety feature - re CO if I remember. My Dad's 63 BelAir wagon I recall had it. You could probably bypass but don't know why.

Thinking further - I think it was makeup fresh air as everybody smoked in those glorious days.

I see what you're saying but I'm not sure that's my problem here. If I remember right this started happening back around November or December.

Now that I think about it some more I guess the reason why I didn't notice until around December could be because I've always left the temp. to full heat since it started getting cold and I noticed the hot air getting blown at my legs one day. It still seems to be too much for it to just be blowing fresh air into the car though.
