  • stuttering, where to start?

ok, so my car has been stuttering for a while now, and its not getting any better. It used to only stutter at high rpms, now its doing it at idle some. My SES light is on about 75% of the time(MAF sensor reading), and if its not on, it will usually turn on if I run it long enough. Could it be my MAF sensor? These are $175 at autozone, my other thoughts are the coils, o2 sensors, or fuel pump(hopefully not), and i dont know where to start.

Start out with plugs and wires.

they were changed somewhat recently, taylor wires(with heat shield tubing on them) and NGK55 plugs, have maybe 15,000 miles on them.

Make sure non of the wires are rubbing or burnt.

well if you are getting a code for the maf sensor it probably is your maf. Check the wires that plug into the maf and make sure they are loose or anything. If they are good take out your MAF and clean it with some electronic cleaner, not carb cleaner. If it still doesn't work I have an extra MAF from a 97 car I am selling in the for sale section. ;)

ok i have a 94 3.4 a4 and i had the problem so i changed everything and it happened to be a cat blocked and it caused my egr to backfire and cat=ch my car on minor fire. so check that. i gutted mine, its not hard so try that or just replace it because its not worth catching your car on fire
