  • ABS Inop + TCS... ack.

It all started a few months back. I start the car, the ABS Inop/TCS lights go on (both of them). Turn off the car, then start again.. no worries, everything is fine. Then it started happening while i was driving (low rpms/slow). I'd pull over, restart the car, everything is fine again.

Now today, I'm driving slowly, I hit the brakes, and then the "low traction" light turns on, abs kicks in, then turns back off after abs stops. Keep in mind I'm going around 5-10mph.. there's no reason for this to be happening. It happened about 15 times in traffic today.

Any ideas on where to start looking?

check the selonoid in the fuse box in the engine compartment and make sure it is pushed in all the way or that it is not going bad

that is what i would check first

alright, bringing up an old thread, but still have the problem.

Selonoid is all the way in, and not going bad.

This NORMALLY happens when it's hot out (I live in Florida, we're talking 85-95 with humidity)... it happens every now and then when it isn't hot, but alwwwways when it is hot.

What could this be? I might just go to a dealer and have them do a full brake inspection.

It's happening at higher speeds now too (25mph-ish)

My front rotors are very warped, not sure if that could be triggering something and battery may be going. (have a red top, just need to install)

Re: ABS Inop + TCS... ack.

When I first bought my car this sort of thing happened. I would be slowing down doing like 5-10 mph and then my low traction light would come on and shortly after my abs inop light would turn on. It didn't do it all the time though but I still took it back to the dealer where I got it from and they hooked it up to a machine and it said one of the wheel speed sensors where out. FYI there are 3 wheel speed sensors on a 95 camaro with the 3.4 one in each front hub assembly and one around the driveshaft.

sorry for the bump in this thread but did you ever figure out what was wrong with your brakes?mine do the same thing.

also if it is the speed sensors (or likely) do you have to buy the whole hub to replace the front sensors?

any clue how much they are?

Check your brake sensor on the rear axle and clean it free of debris of all the metal shavings. Then see if your problem persists.

thanks for the respnse.it could be it as i have cleaned it before and it seemed like it helped for a few days but started to do it again.although i do need to change my rear end oil (that didn't sound right :o ).i think it may be so dirty that it just got metal right back on it.i will try changing the fluid and cleaning the sensor, thanks.now i just gotta go see what kind of fluid it it.

Yeah, if it's been over, I think it's 30k, since you've changed the gear oil in your rear differential then you need to go ahead and do that a.s.a.p. And clean your sensor while in there. And thus your problems may cease to exist.
