  • AC system and throttle cable.

My AC compressor is making an awful squeeling sound. Now to replace it I was told I need to replace my orifice tube and filter dryer for the warranty. Exactly where are these on the 3.4? Is the accumulator or receiver/drier the same thing?
And by the way. My throttle cable broke at the gas peddel this morning on the way to work and my throttle stuck. Had to shift to neutral and turn her off so she would not blow the engine. Is this easy to fix?
    Thanks for the help.

Sounds expensive. If the A/C ever goes out on my car, it's going out of my car. :) Weight reduction!

As for the cable, never done one on a car yet, but I imagine it's not too difficult. Just have to route the new cable through the firewall and follow the same path as the old one.

I'm not sure of the differences on the 3.4's through the years.....but I have a 1995 3.4 V6. The A/C part you are talking about is referred to as a receiver/dryer on my year model. Here is a picture of the receiver/dryer circled.

It should have two connections, one from the top going to the expansion valve near the dash, and one from the top going to the top-passenger side of the condenser. It's also held down by a fairly large bracket, something like a cup holder.

I believe A/C systems with a receiver/dryer have an expansion valve and A/C systems with an accumulator have orfice tubes. It has to do with the High pressure and Low pressure sides of the A/C system.

Could the squealing be coming from the serpentine belt?

      Hope this helps.

Mine is set up the same. Speaking of the belt, I will have to check. when I replaced my alternator I forgot to put the belt back on....DUH, just started it did'nt drive it. But I cannot remember if it made a sound or not.
Will the tensioner squeal if its bad? It moved freely with no binding when I moved it by hand.
Either way I'll replace it all and be done with it.

all you have to do is replace the compresser. The only time you need to replace all that is if your compresser self distructs and sends metal shavings into the rest of the ac system.

            Thanks for the help guys.
Well i found out what was wrong with the throttle. The elbow that connects to the TB, the tightening band that you adjust to hold it in place was keeping my throttle from closing. So all I did was move the band around and it released the throttle. So no money spent....
