  • Cooling Fan Switch

Hey all, I just installed my cooling fan switch according to the directions at this site:

    http://web.nmsu.edu/~shanemar/camaro...fanswitch.html

Everything works fine, but my SES light came on. Are there any of you that have done your own switch according to those directions, and did your SES light come on? Any of you know off hand what I may have done wrong? Thanks.

I believe this is normal, since the fans are on when the computer says they don't need to be.

AFAIK, they'll come on if you start the car with the fans running inappropriately. Did you install LEDs as well? You'll see that the low speeds are on with the A/C. Many have reported that the computer learns that you're playing with the fans, and eventually stops throwing the SES. The SES light will also go away after a few starts, so nothing to worry about.
The light will not FLASH because of the fan switch, though, so keep that in mind.

It has never happened to me... I used the same instructions, but I used 12V LEDS and no resistors.

I used the directions from the site and the only time that I get a SES light is if I leave the fans on till the temp drops below normal running temp. it will go away after you shut the car off (like over night) Hope that this helps.

Does anyone happen to have those instructions? It appears the website no longer exists. I imagine "Shanmar" is no longer in school 10 years later..
